The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated in the early hours of Monday, August 31, that it had launched a missile and drone attack on two airbases in Jordan in retaliation for the US military strike on Larak Island.
Fars News Agency, a media outlet affiliated with the IRGC, wrote: “In response to the attack on Larak Island, the Aerospace Force, in a combined missile-drone operation, targeted technical and maintenance infrastructure, as well as fighter jet housing areas, at the King Hussein and Al-Azraq airbases in Jordan using ballistic missiles.”
Fox News also confirmed the Islamic Republic’s attack on US forces in Jordan, citing a US source, and reported that the strike was carried out in reaction to the targeting of Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island.
According to Fox News, the US source stated that nearly all missiles fired toward US forces in Jordan were intercepted, with no significant damage reported as of the report’s publication.
The IRGC statement further added: “Military actions will not weaken control over the Strait of Hormuz, and any firing will be met with reciprocal responses.”
