Now it’s time for the best part, and what we’ve all been waiting for. League winners, must-haves, “my guys.” Whatever you want to call them, they’re the small handful of players who will prove determinative this season. Allow me to present the footballers I refuse to leave any draft room without. And the best part? They’re spread out across the draft board, so we can actually obtain most of them.ADPs are via FantasyPros.QuarterbackJaxson Dart, NYG (QB11 — ADP 113)Be excited. Be very excited. The only thing that gets me going more than rostering my favorite fantasy QB on every team is getting him at a crazy discount. An ADP of 113? Really? Sure, QB positional prices fell across the board this draft season, but that doesn’t change the fact we’re talking about a legitimate chance to acquire the overall QB1 outside of pick 100. Roll your eyes to your own detriment.For starters, from an archetypal standpoint, rushing QBs projected to start from Week 1 have gone way earlier on way flimsier skillsets. Look no further than the irrational exuberance that’s lifted both Justin Fields and Anthony Richardson into top-50 overall conversations in recent seasons. Either way, I welcome all price reductions in an ever-sharpening fantasy landscape.On to Dart, who’s just about everything we want in a league-winning fantasy QB. First-round NFL draft capital? Check. Dual-threat? Double check. Ability to string together ceiling games? Check and mate. To that last point, I’m not sure why we’re pretending Dart wasn’t the best fantasy quarterback for more than one-quarter of the season… as a rookie. The best? Yes, like No. 1 with a bullet.Between Weeks 6-10, after just five career NFL starts under center, Dart began a magical run as fantasy’s overall QB1, during which he averaged 25 fantasy points per game (more than 12% ahead of Josh Allen, Drake Maye, and Lamar Jackson). During that span, the former Rebel led all QBs in total takeoffs per game (6.8 combined scrambles plus designed rushes), rushing first downs (17) and rushing touchdowns (six). And, sure, while running effectively raises Dart’s floor and ceiling, don’t sleep on the throwing aspect of his game — he finished top 10 in both passing yards (1,104) and expected points added (EPA) per dropback (+0.17) during that same span.Pair a healthy Nabers with the threat of TE Isaiah Likely in the slot, plus the emergence of rookie Malachi Fields, and we’re talking about a completely revamped pass-catching corps. Prediction: Dart finishes as a top-three fantasy QB, cementing his status as one of the best picks on the board.
