The arrangement with the Hong Kong-based lender will provide JA Solar with a financing package comprising CNY 100 million in green loans and CNY 600 million in green guarantee facilities. The deal was enabled by a second-party opinion from engineering and advisory firm Arup, which verified that the solar product maker’s green financing framework is aligned with international standards.Arup's assessment covered JA Solar’s criteria for the use of proceeds, project evaluation and selection, fund management and reporting. The financing framework was adopted in May, outlining project categories and initiatives eligible for green financing. Among these are the production of photovoltaic (PV) equipment and the installation of solar arrays and battery energy storage systems (BESS).JA Solar, which recently rebranded as JA, manufactures silicon wafers, cells and modules and delivers its products to 180 countries, for use in commercial and industrial and residential PV projects.
