Elon Musk predicted artificial intelligence will outperform humans across virtually every digital task by the end of 2027, extending a string of increasingly aggressive forecasts about how quickly AI capabilities are advancing.
Musk Sees Superhuman AI By 2027
"AI will be able to do anything digital (that doesn’t require shaping atoms) at a superhuman level by the end of next year," Musk wrote Sunday on X.
His post came after Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch observed, "We’re almost running out of ‘but it can’t do this one other thing’ in 2026."
Musk’s caveat draws a line between work performed entirely through computers and tasks requiring physical manipulation. Coding, research, document creation, data analysis and other software-based work fall inside his prediction, while building physical objects would still require robotics.
