Türkiye prepares next phase of PKK disarmament
Türkiye is preparing the next phase of the PKK’s disarmament process, with official verification of weapons handovers required before any legal relief or return arrangements can begin.
The Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration was adopted on Aug. 10 and published in the Official Gazette on Aug. 18.
Although the law is already in force, its provisions on postponing investigations, trials and prison sentences can be applied only after security agencies determine that the PKK/KCK and affiliated structures have ended their operational presence and surrendered all weapons and ammunition.
The National Security Council (MGK) must then confirm that assessment in a decision published in the Official Gazette.
