This week, it’s finally happening. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook will pass the reins to long-time company veteran John Ternus, who will be tasked with leading the tech titan.

It’s been a good year thus far for Apple, which has seen its share price rise an additional 18% year-to-date. In fact, AAPL is in striking distance from its all-time high, and the company is seen by many as enjoying many of the benefits of the AI revolution without expending significant amounts of capital on infrastructure investments. (Unlike many of its Magnificent 7 peers.)

Cook won’t exactly be riding off into the sunset, as he will be staying on as executive chairman of the board. Still, the transition does represent a changing of the guard, and investors can be forgiven for wondering whether Ternus will have the same level of success as his predecessors.

Top investor Daniel Sparks, who also writes for The Motley Fool, doesn’t think investors should be all that concerned about the upcoming leadership change.

“History says the handoff itself will probably be a non-event,” says the 5-star investor, who is among the top 1% of stock pros covered by TipRanks.
