Stacy Revere / Getty ImagesAug. 30, 2026 5:41 pm EDT Updated The top-ranked Nebraska women’s volleyball team made quick work of No. 2 Texas on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, winning in three sets at the inaugural Players Era Volleyball Showcase.The Huskers rolled 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 before a crowd of 9,747 in a renewal of one of the sport’s most storied rivalries.All-America middle blocker Andi Jackson led a balanced Nebraska attack with nine kills on a scorching .571 hitting efficiency. The Huskers hit .293 as a team, served seven aces and held the Longhorns without a service ace.It marked the first regular-season match between the Huskers and Longhorns since 2016 — and the first sweep by Nebraska in the series since that match. Texas won its fourth national championship in the last meeting of the former Big 12 heavyweights, a sweep in the 2023 national championship.
Nebraska has won five national championships, but none since 2017. A title is the only accomplishment that has evaded the Nebraska senior class of Jackson, Laney Choboy, Harper Murray and Bergen Reilly.They were freshmen in the most recent Texas-Nebraska matchup before Sunday. The seniors are now 101-6 in their careers after avenging the 2023 loss. They avenged another loss from 2023 on Thursday against SMU in the championship of Spikes Under the Lights, an exhibition event at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium.For that win, Nebraska received $350,000 in NIL money.Outside hitter Cari Spears led Texas with 12 kills on Sunday. The Longhorns hit .152 as a team.The Huskers (2-0) will play next Sunday as part of the SEC-Big Ten Challenge at Wrigley Field against Missouri.
