Filmhouse Group has stepped up security measures at its cinemas nationwide following a violent incident at its IMAX location in Lekki, Lagos State, where two people were killed.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 29, after a man reportedly armed with a machete and knife arrived at the cinema’s car park and allegedly attempted to gain access to the premises.

Reports indicated that security guards stopped the man from entering, after which he allegedly became aggressive and attacked security personnel at the facility.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that one security guard was stabbed to death, while another was injured during the confrontation.
