Ben Roberts Photo/Getty ImagesAug. 30, 2026 12:54 pm EDT Updated Everton are on track to complete the signing of Kenny Tete from Fulham. The deal, which would be worth around £9million ($12.2m), is not yet finalised, with a medical and final details still to be completed. The Athletic reported earlier on Sunday that Everton were considering a move for the right-back.Tete, 30, was an unused substitute in Fulham’s opening-day 3-2 defeat at home to Chelsea, with Timothy Castagne selected at right-back, but did start in the Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon.Tete has featured in 144 games for Fulham since his move from Lyon in 2020. The Dutchman has two years remaining on his Fulham terms, with the club holding a 12-month extension option. After club captain Seamus Coleman, aged 37, left this summer and with Scotland international Nathan Patterson almost certain to follow, Everton have been keen to add a new right-back to David Moyes’ squad.Patterson is the only specialist in David Moyes’s squad and, while Jake O’Brien can also operate there, there is doubt over the centre-back’s future due to his desire to play regular minutes in his preferred position.Patterson, signed from Scottish giants Rangers in January 2022 for around £11million ($15m) with a view to being Coleman’s successor, struggled for form and fitness and has spent the past couple of years on the periphery.Merlin Rohl, a central midfielder by trade, has started at right-back in each of Everton’s opening three games of the season, including in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.Elsewhere, Everton are in talks to re-sign Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City, while they have reached an agreement in principle to sell Iliman Ndiaye to Tottenham Hotspur and buy Richarlison back from the north London club. They have also pulled out of an agreement which would have seen Harrison Armstrong for Nottingham Forest.Aug 30, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
