The Emir of Argungu and Vice Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Samaila Mera.
The Emir of Argungu and Vice Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Samaila Mera, has endorsed Governor Nasir Idris for a second term, citing his administration’s record of development and “selfless service” to the people of Kebbi State.
The monarch made the endorsement on Sunday when the Kebbi State Governor’s Media Team, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, paid a courtesy visit to his palace in Argungu as part of its nationwide tour to showcase the administration’s achievements.
Although he noted that traditional rulers were apolitical by virtue of their positions, Emir Mera said it was necessary to recognise leaders who had delivered tangible results to the people.
“Sustainable development in a democratic dispensation can only be achieved if a track record of selfless service is used as a yardstick for electing political leaders,” the Emir said.
