Meanwhile, another Russian violin controversy is brewing. In July, U.S. Commissioner of Fine Arts Rodney Mims Cook, Jr. requested Mikhail Simonyan to entertain artists, celebrities, and diplomats in Atlanta. A Facebook post, “Russian embassy in USA,” called it a friendly reset for “Russian American cultural ties to restore normal relations.” Simonyan’s Pro Putin stance and his previous position at the Novosibirsk Military Commissariat makes him an unlikely peace facilitator. He previously entertained Russian troops wearing “Z” patches, a rallying symbol of Russian fascism. Cook, an artist administrator turned foreign affairs expert, recently negotiated secretly with Kremlin officials at the St. Petersburg Economic forum. He discussed initiating a ceasefire predicated on a Russian orchestra performance. These negotiations with Putin aristocrats represent the height of political obfuscation making America a laughing stock of foreign affairs.
