CIA Director John Ratcliffe proposed a trilateral meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin during an unannounced trip to Moscow earlier this week, as part of efforts to end the war.
Axios reported this, citing sources, according to Ukrinform.
The report said this was the first time Ratcliffe had personally become involved in diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a breakthrough in relations between Russia and Ukraine.
According to the sources, Ratcliffe's visit was partly aimed at determining whether Russian intelligence chiefs could help convince Putin to move toward resuming negotiations with Ukraine mediated by the United States.
On Friday, U.S. officials briefed Zelensky on Ratcliffe’s talks in Moscow and the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting, the report said.
