Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for large swathes of the UK, with warnings that the weather could cause flooding and disrupt travel and outdoor events over the bank holiday weekend.
On Sunday, the Met Office issued multiple yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms covering all of Wales, the majority of England and Northern Ireland, and Scotland as far north as Pitlochry.
The weather advisories, which caution that heavy showers, thunderstorms and possible hail could cause disruption to transport, infrastructure and outdoor activities, are active into Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, additional alerts for “possible flooding” were put in place for various parts of the UK, stretching from Scotland to southwest England.
