This is strange. A Waterboys gig, but something else, too: the first night of the Fisherman’s Blues Revue. Which is what, exactly? Inspired by the Rolling Thunder Revue, the wild tour in which Bob Dylan performed alongside a troupe of guest stars, Mike Scott’s version is a way of digging into the rootsy music he and his band were making in the mid-1980s, some of which emerged on the classic Fisherman’s Blues. The aim of this show is not a faithful play-through of that album, which Scott has said he would find dull, but a “reigniting” of its spirit.
