Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the National Central Bureau of INTERPOL, Lagos Annex, have rescued two Colombian nationals allegedly trafficked into Nigeria and held captive by a human trafficking syndicate.
The victims, identified as Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa, were rescued on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following actionable intelligence received from INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Bogotá, Colombia.
Ani Iniedu, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, saying the victims were allegedly lured to Nigeria under false pretences before being held against their will.
According to the police, the women’s travel documents were also confiscated by members of the syndicate, identified as Chinese nationals who are currently at large.
The statement said the police commenced a covert tracking operation immediately after receiving the intelligence from their Colombian counterparts.
