Former prime minister Alexis Tsipras told sector heads of his Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) party that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ government is their only rival.
“We are preparing, and everyone should keep this in mind, not only to fight the battle, but to govern,” Tsipras said.
He also outlined his party’s governing program, to be unveiled Wednesday in Thessaloniki, built around honest governance, fair development and industrial reconstruction, targeting those who “speculate, plunder public funds, and enjoy easy profits and impunity.”
Dismissing competition with the socialist PASOK party for second place, Tsipras said New Democracy “is responsible and accountable for all the wounds inflicted on society and the country in recent years.”
He accused Mitsotakis of distorting reality with inflated statistics and ribbon-cutting events, driven by fear ahead of upcoming elections.
