President William Ruto’s Katiba Day speech on August 27 offered a strong defence of constitutionalism and called for an audit of the progress made in implementing the 2010 Constitution.
When he inaugurated the day last year, he described it as a moment for sober reflection, celebration of the gains made and renewed commitment to the principles of the supreme law.
After the Yes side won the August 4, 2010 referendum to ratify the document with 68.6 per cent of the total vote, Ruto recognised the victory, saying the outcome reflected the democratic choice of Kenyans.
