Now, they have just over 24 hours to cut their roster down from 90 players to the regular-season maximum of 53. For many, Saturday’s preseason finale will mark the end of their career in Indy or perhaps, all together in the NFL. For others, especially those who latch on at the backend of the roster, Indy’s third preseason game may have served as a stepping stone toward realizing their childhood dream of playing in an NFL regular-season game.As the Colts begin to whittle down their roster, I put on my GM hat. Here’s who I think will make the cut:(R) denotes rookieQuarterbacks (3)In: Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard and Anthony Richardson Sr.
Out: Easton StickJones is the Colts’ unquestioned leader, and although he didn’t play in the preseason, he showed no signs of the torn right Achilles he suffered last December. The 29-year-old is fully healthy and will start Week 1, but how things play out behind is to be determined. Indy will keep three quarterbacks like it has in the past, though Colts coach Shane Steichen is in no rush to publicly declare who will be the team’s backup between Leonard and Richardson, both of whom were inconsistent during training camp and the preseason.
