Rather than rotating on just one plane, the two regulators move through three different axes. The first rotation takes 60 seconds, while the second and third axes each take 120 seconds. A differential links the two mechanisms and averages their output.Floating diamonds, rubies and green tsavoritesThere are no traditional hour and minute hands on the dial. Instead, a diamond-set hour ring containing 107 diamonds and a ruby moves around the tourbillon. A second ring features 95 diamonds and another ruby.The two red stones indicate the hour and minutes against 12 green tsavorite markers, giving the impression that the indicators are floating around the watch’s mechanical center.Tsavorite itself has an interesting history. The vivid green gemstone is a variety of grossular garnet and was discovered in East Africa by Scottish geologist Campbell Bridges in 1967. Tiffany & Co. later introduced it commercially and named it after the Tsavo region in 1974.
