At least 37 people were killed after a Russian drone strike on a ammunition depot near Kyiv late Friday, one of the deadliest attacks in Ukraine this year.
The drone strike was the second attack to hit an arms depot near the Ukrainian capital in less than two months.
"A terrible situation and terrible negligence on the part of those who stored explosives right next to people," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address on X.
"Another such crime — after what happened in Vyshneve — is absolutely unacceptable," he added. Zelenskyy was referring to an attack on an ammunition warehouse last month that set off secondary explosions in the small town on Kyiv's western outskirts, killing ten people.
Russia and Ukraine have recently intensified long-range strikes, increasingly hitting civilian infrastructure such as logistics warehouses and oil and port facilities. These attacks have resulted in more civilian casualties. What else do we know about the Russian drone attack near Kyiv?
