IBM Releases Open-Source Qiskit Fermions 0.1.0 to Preserve System Structure During Transpilation

IBM Quantum has officially launched Qiskit Fermions (v0.1.0), an open-source software library and transpiler extension designed to express fermionic operators, construct domain-specific fermionic circuits, and optimize mappings to qubit architectures. Built on a high-performance Rust core with Python and C bindings, the package addresses the compilation gap between interacting particle physics—such as quantum chemistry and condensed matter simulation—and standard qubit-based processors.
