SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1 distributed relief packs to fisherfolk affected by recent storms and the southwest monsoon or “habagat” in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.
BFAR – Region 1 said it distributed 3,500 relief packs to affected fisherfolk and their families as part of the government’s continuing response to communities affected by the weather disturbances.
The agency coordinated with local government units in identifying qualified beneficiaries and delivering the assistance to affected fishing communities.
BFAR Region 1 said it would continue coordinating with local governments in assessing the needs of affected fisherfolk and providing assistance to the fisheries sector. — Kenneth P. Tabin/Contributor
