The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Sokoto Branch, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has donated 700 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food to the Sokoto State Government to support efforts to combat malnutrition among vulnerable children.
The donation, made under the Malnutrition Emergency Appeal Programme, was formally handed over on Friday, to the Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency for distribution to targeted beneficiaries.
The commodities are expected to be distributed across the three local government areas where the MEAP is currently being implemented, namely Sokoto North, Sokoto South and Wamakko Local Government Areas.
Speaking while receiving the items on behalf of the state government, a representative of the SSPHCDA appreciated the Nigerian Red Cross Society and IFRC for their continued support towards tackling malnutrition in the state.
