It’s generally expected that a mechanic will do whatever repairs you need, provided they have the tools, time, and capability. But once in a while, your friendly auto tech might refuse a job.
A Toyota Camry owner pulled into a Florida repair shop asking for a new timing chain, a new oil pump, new water pump, and the engine resealed from top to bottom. The mechanic scanned the car, test drove it, and turned the work down.
Plant City, Florida-based Mozalez Auto Repair (@mozalez_autorepair), whose channel documents jobs and situations at the shop, explained what happened in a recent post. "This is a new one for me," he says.
The car is a 2004 Camry. He asked whether there was something specific the owner was chasing, and the customer replied, "It needs it, it's at the mileage."
He was not sold. He points at an odometer reading of 111,000 miles, then reports what the diagnostic scan returned. "I scanned it, not one code," he says. He drove the car as well. "It drives phenomenally."
