DJ Black Coffee, whose company Soulistic Music secured a R7 million judgment against Maserati SA in a dispute over a customised vehicle.
Black Coffee's plan to upgrade his R7 million Maserati to a R9m model has ended in a court battle, with a sheriff now authorised to attach assets belonging to Maserati SA.
The move follows a Johannesburg High Court order in favour of the Grammy Award-winning DJ's company, Soulistic Music, after a dispute over a customised Maserati MC20 Cielo.
Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, already owned an M20 Coupé when he struck a deal to upgrade to the more expensive Cielo.
His existing car was valued at R7m as part of the transaction, with a further R2m to be paid for the new vehicle. But the deal turned sour when the Cielo was supposed to be delivered.
