The Nigerian government has extradited two Nigerians to the United States to face prosecution over alleged online sexual exploitation and sextortion of two American teenagers who later died by suicide.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said in a statement by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said Mudashiru Olawale and Adebola Adekunle were extradited on Wednesday.
The extradition was facilitated by the Office of the Attorney of the Federation and the EFCC following investigations conducted in collaboration with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
According to the EFCC, the two men were separately identified in FBI investigations into sextortion schemes targeting male minors, particularly teenagers aged between 13 and 17.
“The schemes involved the use of Child Sexual Abuse Material, CSAM, to extort victims for money through various means, including money remitters, gift cards and cryptocurrency.
