The record behind that description is a firm’s as much as his own. Draper Fisher Jurvetson, which he co-founded, was an early backer of SpaceX and Tesla, and his partner Steve Jurvetson led both.
The cheques most often called his are elsewhere. Skype, Hotmail, Baidu and Coinbase all sit on his own list.
