Judge Alvin Hellerstein ruled that Trump waited too long after his May 2024 conviction to seek removal of the case

President Donald Trump's effort to move his New York state hush money conviction to federal court was rejected on Friday by a federal judge, dealing a setback to one of the president's most direct paths toward overturning the conviction, according to CNBC.
Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein of the Southern District of New York issued the 35-page ruling, finding that Trump's arguments were "neither new nor legally sufficient," according to The New York Times. It was the third time Judge Hellerstein had denied attempts by Trump's legal team to shift the criminal case to federal court.
