The Iranian women’s national volleyball team secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship for the first time in the tournament’s history following a victory over Indonesia.

Led by head coach Alireza Tolou-Kian, the Iranian squad dropped the opening set 25–19 in the quarterfinal match. However, they delivered a starkly different performance in the subsequent three sets, winning them 25–16, 25–12, and 25–17 to seal a 3–1 victory.

This win marks the best-ever result for the Iranian women’s national volleyball team at the Asian Championship, placing Iran among the top four teams in the tournament for the first time.

The Iranian national team will face the winner of the match between China and Vietnam in the semifinals on Saturday, August 29.
