A surprise inspection at Balasadanam in Peddapadu near Kurnool on Friday (August 28, 2026) flagged lapses in staff attendance, food distribution, and child supervision. The absence of biometric attendance and an adequate surveillance system was another concern.District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) secretary B. Leela Venkata Seshadri conducted the inspection following directions from National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and Principal District Judge G. Kabardhi.The DLSA secretary ordered an inquiry into the lapses and appropriate action against those responsible, stressing the need to ensure children’s safety, welfare, and proper supervision.During the inspection, he noticed that most of the concerned staff were absent. There was inconsistency regarding the children being served eggs—while staff in the kitchen claimed that the eggs had already been served, another claimed they were yet to be boiled. However, the children told the official that they had not been given eggs.During the inspection, the official learned that there were instances of children being forced to withhold information and reprimanded when they spoke out.
