Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will perform a ceremonial ‘Jala Harathi,’ at Payakaraopeta on September 2 to welcome the Godavari water into Anakappali district, Home Minister V. Anitha said, describing the occasion as a historic milestone for the people of North Andhra.The Godavari water, which otherwise flows into the sea, will be diverted through the Polavaram Left Main Canal, providing a major boost to agriculture in Anakapalli district.Ahead of the high-profile event, Ms. Anitha held a review meeting at Nakkapalli with officials from various departments, including the police, to discuss about the arrangements.Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, MLAs Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, KSN Raju, Collector Vijaya Krishnan and other officials attended the meeting.As thousands of people are expected to participate in the event, and the Home Minister directed officials to make adequate arrangements for their convenience.Officials briefed the Ministers on the arrangements being made for the Chief Minister’s visit.Ms. Anitha instructed officials to pay special attention to the venue, approach roads, parking facilities, drinking water, medical services, traffic management and security arrangements.
