Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, stated that restoring diplomacy to its track is “not impossible,” but its realization depends on the United States accepting that applying pressure against Tehran yields no results.
In a message on the social network X, Araghchi described his conversation with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, as “constructive,” adding: “Pressure does not work.” He called on the U.S. to speak with respect, recognize the rights of the Islamic Republic, and honor its commitments to build trust.
During his recent visit to Tehran, the Qatari Prime Minister met with senior officials of the Islamic Republic, including Masoud Pezeshkian and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, to discuss regional developments and diplomatic pathways.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that discussions held during these meetings covered “the latest regional developments” and the creation of suitable conditions for talks aimed at strengthening regional security and stability.
These consultations come as Washington has declared that no negotiations are currently underway with Tehran and that economic pressure and sanctions against the Islamic Republic will continue.
