The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said that 320 Indian nationals remain missing following the devastating flash floods in Nepal, even as it reported fresh rescues and safe evacuations of stranded citizens.Addressing a press briefing, MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said 21 Indian nationals from Tamil Nadu, who had reached Kathmandu a day earlier from the flood-affected area, landed in Delhi on an IndiGo flight. Additionally, 96 Indian nationals who were stranded on the Chinese side of the border have safely crossed into Nepal by land, with efforts underway to evacuate them further.On the number of missing citizens, the spokesperson said the count currently stands at 320, but cautioned that the situation remains fluid. "The figures keep going up and down," he said, adding that authorities are working to reconcile multiple lists. Around 100 persons of Indian origin, who may have travelled for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra but hold other nationalities, also remain uncontactable, he said.— ANI (@ANI) Jaiswal said MEA's control room in Delhi, along with the Indian embassies in Kathmandu and Beijing, are working round the clock to track and assist affected nationals. He further said that 400 Indian nationals are currently safe on the Chinese side of the border, and have been in touch with their families as phone networks remain functional there. The Indian embassy has also been coordinating with their team leaders and travel agents, he added.On relief efforts, the MEA said a third relief flight was expected to depart for Nepal on Thursday evening, carrying portable jet sets, tents, food for children, water purification tablets and medicines, based on requests from the Nepali side. The flight is expected to carry a load of approximately 12-13 tonnes. This is the third relief flight India will be sending to Nepal as part of its assistance package, reflecting close bilateral ties between the two neighbours during natural disasters.The MEA has maintained that the situation remains dynamic, with casualty and missing-persons figures subject to change as verification and reconciliation efforts continue.
