Bharti Airtel led India's telecom industry in mobile subscriber additions in July, adding 26.88 lakh users, while market leader Reliance Jio added 24.46 lakh, according to data released by the sector regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Friday.Vodafone Idea also posted a net increase in its mobile subscriber base, adding 2.40 lakh users during the month. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 1.68 lakh wireless subscribers.Also Read: TRAI seeks powers to act against call management apps like Truecaller, othersThe overall wireless subscriber base in India grew by 55.38 lakh during July, reaching 128.79 crore at the end of the month, compared with 128.23 crore at the end of June.Airtel's additions took its wireless subscriber base to 48.94 crore, while Jio's total wireless subscriber base rose to 50.60 crore.Vodafone Idea's subscriber base increased to 19.90 crore by the end of July following the addition of 2.40 lakh users.Also Read: Trai plan to regulate internet TV triggers pushback from OTT, broadcaster groupsThe growth was accompanied by a rise in India's broadband subscriber base. "As per the information received from 1,562 operators for the month of July 2026, the total number of broadband subscribers increased from 1087.50 million (108.75 crore) at the end of June 2026 to 1094.48 million (109.44 crore) at the end of July 2026 with a monthly growth rate of 0.64 per cent," TRAI said in its latest monthly report.The wireless subscriber base had stood at 128.23 crore at the end of June, with the July additions taking the total to 128.79 crore.
