From Whose Waters Do We Drink? Inside BMW Art Generation’s big question

The central exhibition at the Art Haus is titled From Whose Waters Do We Drink? will feature Lady Skollie, among others.

There is a fine line between writing a pre-event article and writing an advertorial while wearing a journalist’s hat. I have had my ‘fair’ share of run-ins with publicists over this distinction.

My position is simple: if you want pre-publicity, pay for it. Newsrooms can do with that money. And whatever you do, do not barter access for coverage.

That said, this is not the hill I intend to die on today. In fact, I am about to do the very same thing I have just spent a few lines decrying: write about an event I am yet to attend.

The BMW Art Generation Vol. IV takes place this Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, at the BMW Art Haus, formerly Stevenson Gallery, in Parktown North, Johannesburg.
