Meta settled a lawsuit brought by 29 U.S. states for $18 billion on Wednesday. The tech giant also developed a 10-year strategy to protect youth users in partnership with 52 state and territory attorneys general.
The trial commenced last week and accused Meta of aggravating a youth mental health crisis by deliberately designing addictive platforms with harmful content and illegally collecting data on children under the age of 13 without parental consent.
