…adds fortified rice to product line
The Lagos State Government has officially added fortified rice to its product line as part of efforts to tackle malnutrition and improve the nutritional value of staples consumed in the state.
Speaking at a training for millers and regulators at the Lagos State Rice Company Limited on Thursday, Oluwarotimi Fashola, special adviser on Agriculture and Food Systems, said the launch of “Eko Fortified Rice” marks a new phase for the state’s rice value chain.
The company already produces Eko Rice Farm Fresh and Eko Rice Classic. “Today, we are proud to officially include Eko Fortified Rice in our product offerings,” Fashola said.
He said the fortified rice blending facility was installed in December 2025 with support from TechnoServe, the World Food Programme, Partners in Food Solutions, GAIN, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and DSM-Firmenich.
