The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for deploying 37 electric buses in Abuja under the Renewed Hope Mass Transit Programme, describing the initiative as a timely response to the transportation challenges confronting civil servants.

The group said on Thursday that the intervention was particularly significant because it followed a proposal submitted to the President on August 13 by Bamidele Atoyebi, its convener, seeking affordable transportation for workers across Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Atoyebi had highlighted the rising cost of transportation on civil servants’ incomes following engagements with workers at the National Broadcasting Commission, a military hospital and other federal institutions in Abuja.

BAT-IG said although it had proposed CNG buses, vehicle conversion centres and other measures, it welcomed the government’s decision to deploy electric buses to address workers’ transportation difficulties.
