The President of the United States spoke with reporters at the White House on Thursday while signing an executive order to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America,” responding to several questions regarding Iran.
In response to reporters’ questions at the White House, Donald Trump stated: “We don’t have much left to say about Iran. We don’t want to talk to them, nor are we seeking a meeting or negotiations with them.”
Reiterating that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and that the U.S. is escorting numerous vessels through the waterway, he said: “Millions of barrels of oil exit through the Strait of Hormuz every day. Other nations know this as well. Shots are fired occasionally, but we have completely cleared the Strait of Hormuz of mines.”
The U.S. President claimed that, through the “Space Force,” the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz are being closely monitored: “We are watching every inch of the strait. If a boat enters with a mine, we will see it and disarm the mine. We have already done this in two instances.”
Addressing another question about Iran, he noted that “Iran isn’t even paying its military forces and is in severe trouble.”
