Rockstar Games has unveiled the first official extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, giving players their most detailed glimpse yet at the gameplay, world and systems powering the long-awaited sequel. Titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, the roughly 26-minute showcase premiered on Netflix before being released through Rockstar’s official channels, with the footage captured entirely from in-game gameplay on a base PlayStation 5.The footage begins with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos caught in a drug deal that goes wrong, setting up the Bonnie-and-Clyde dynamic at the centre of the game. Players can switch between Jason and Lucia while they are apart, while the pair can also operate together during missions and free-roam activities. Rockstar has also introduced a relationship system that allows players to determine whether Jason and Lucia develop a romantic relationship or remain partners in crime. Their bond can be strengthened through activities together and responding to messages, with the relationship affecting how they interact during the game.The wanted system has received one of the biggest overhauls. Police can now respond to information supplied by witnesses, with the game tracking details such as a suspect’s appearance, clothing and vehicle. Players can therefore manipulate what the police know by changing clothes, abandoning vehicles or using disguises. Six wanted stars also return after GTA V reduced the maximum to five. The system is designed to make escaping law enforcement dependent on how a crime was committed and how effectively the player covers their tracks.
