Samoa’s trade deficit widens to $127.1 million

Samoa imported $127.1 million more in goods than it exported in June as its fuel import bill increased sharply, according to the Samoa Bureau of Statistics (SBS).

Samoa imported goods worth $136 million during the month but recorded only $8.9 million in exports and re-exports.

The deficit was 23.8 per cent larger than in May 2026 and 16.6 per cent larger than in June 2025.

Imports increased by $24.6 million, or 22.1 per cent, from May.

Exports and re-exports rose by $200,000, or 1.9 per cent, over the same period.
