Sir, – During US president Donald Trump’s visit to Ireland in September, he plans to travel by road through Dublin and on to Doonbeg. I hope the fuel protesters that made their presence felt in April demonstrate a solid ethical consistency by lining the roads from the capital to Clare. After all, it was the US leader’s foolish and egotistical warmongering that directly sparked the dramatic increase in fuel costs. Perhaps he was too far away for protesters in April, but what an excellent opportunity now. This is their chance to shake the claims that their actions were co-opted by far-right interference. – Yours, etc,SHANNON CAMPBELL,Malahide, Co Dublin.
