Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Dozens of alleged members of a Puerto Rican drug trafficking organization known as Los Baja Deo have been arrested and are now facing federal charges, federal authorities announced Thursday.
Some 70 suspects accused of being members of the criminal gang, also known as LBD, are in custody in Puerto Rico, charged with operating a "key pipeline" of fentanyl, cocaine and other narcotics into the continental United States.
A total of 81 people were indicted in the operation targeting members of "this violent drug trafficking organization that had been active for years throughout the west side of Puerto Rico," officials stated.
"During this investigation, law enforcement seized 21 firearms," Blanche said during a press conference at the headquarters of the federal prosecutor's office in San Juan.
