Alex Pantling/Getty ImagesAug. 27, 2026 6:19 pm EDT Updated Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Jack Hinshelwood is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury in training.The 21-year-old missed Brighton’s 4-0 win over Tromso in the second leg of their Conference League play-off on Thursday. Matt O’Riley, Yasin Ayari and Pascal Gross started in midfield against the Norwegian club.It is a blow to head coach Fabian Hurzeler, after Hinshelwood starred in Brighton’s opening Premier League game of the season, a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa. Starting in the No 10 role, Hinshelwood scored twice before being substituted in the 64th minute.
“He had a small issue in training yesterday,” Hurzeler after the win against Tromso. “We have to go with him day by day. I can’t give a clear schedule of when he will be back.”Hinshelwood made 27 Premier League appearances last season, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He missed two months after suffering ligament damage in his right ankle in September.The versatile academy graduate featured in central midfield and occasionally covered at right-back before Hurzler converted him into an attacking midfielder in March, signing a new contract with Brighton until 2029 the same month.Hinshelwood, who made his senior debut in May 2023, has made 81 appearances for the club in all competitions, recording 14 goals and seven assists.He joins forwards Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Stefanos Tzimas and Yankuba Minteh on the sidelines, with the latter the subject of two rejected bids from Liverpool.
