Shares of industrial and transportation companies fell amid anxiety ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's speech from Jackson Hole, Wyo.

Taiwan's legislature approved a plan to spend over $7 billion on drones over the next six years, investing in a strategy to deter an attack by China and supporting an emerging domestic industry that aims to be a world leader.

Fed Bank of Kansas City said its Tenth District Manufacturing Survey's composite index came in at 10 in August, up from a reading of 9 in July though down from 11 in June.
