Reaction was swift on both sides of the border after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America.

On Thursday Trump said it was “effective immediately,” days after he said on social media that he was “giving serious consideration” to the idea, as trade tensions with Canada escalated.
