Is Mitch McConnell OK? His Office Has No Updates.It’s been at least 74 days since anyone has publicly seen Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).That was the day, June 14th, when paramedics found him unconscious at home and performed CPR on him as he was experiencing cardiac arrest. McConnell, 84, spent weeks in the hospital after that, with his office providing little to no news on what happened, his health condition or on whether he plans to return to the Senate this year.It wasn’t until July 12th, and after mounting questions, that McConnell issued a statement saying he was in the hospital after taking a fall and dealing with a “mild case of pneumonia.” But he still left lots of questions unanswered, and the last update from his office was three weeks ago, when his office put out another statement saying he’d been discharged from a rehabilitation center and sent home for more recovery. Asked Thursday for any news on McConnell’s health status or his timeline for returning to the Senate, his spokesperson Stephanie Penn said she had “nothing to add” to his three-week-old statement and shared an excerpt from it.“On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” reads his August 6th statement.The Senate is currently in recess until Sept. 14th. The Hope Florida Foundation, launched by Casey DeSantis in 2021, sparked backlash when it received $10 million in 2024 from a state Medicaid settlement intended to cover the cost of health insurance for children in need.The foundation in turn passed the funds through a number of organizations before it was given to two nonprofit political action groups utilized by the governor to defeat a ballot measure that would have legalized marijuana, according to the report. The report found that none of the testifying witnesses could recall who was responsible for transferring the money to Hope Florida and therefore charges could not be filed.
