A 21-year-old Delhi University student was stabbed to death at her home in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar on Wednesday night (August 26, 2026). Police suspect an acquaintance who allegedly killed her following an argument, officials said on Thursday (August 27, 2026).The accused, identified as Imran, 26, is absconding. Police have formed around 15 teams to trace him, an official said. Muskan was a second-year student at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning and lived with her mother, two sisters and brother in a building near Mangla Hospital, police said.The case came into light following a call to the Tilak Nagar police station around 7.24 p.m. on August 26 regarding the stabbing of a woman. By the time police reached the spot, the victim, Muskan, had been taken to Amar Leela Hospital in Janakpuri, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.A murder case has been registered and efforts are underway to trace the accused.A preliminary investigation suggests that Muskan and Mr. Imran had been in a relationship for around one-and-a-half years, which had turned sour in recent months. Police suspect Mr. Imran was angry with her for about two months after allegedly suspecting that she was speaking to another person.According to the investigation, Mr. Imran, a former gym trainer who is currently unemployed, went to Muskan’s house on Wednesday (August 26, 2026) evening when she was alone. An argument broke out between the two, following which he allegedly attacked her with a knife multiple times before fleeing, police said.Police records show that Mr. Imran was previously booked in 2021 for an attempt to commit culpable homicide under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code.
