I have tried to handle the situation quietly and respectfully while giving the organization time to explore its options,” Hellebuyck said in the statement his agent, Ray Petkau, shared. “With training camp approaching, I felt it was important to publicly confirm my request.”

General manager Kevin Cheveldayoff acknowledged that Winnipeg was listening to trade offers before the NHL Draft in June. In anticipation of potentially losing Hellebuyck, the Jets signed Stuart Skinner in free agency in July to be the team’s starting netminder.Hellebuyck’s statement puts his status for training camp in doubt, although he did not specifically indicate that he is preparing to hold out until a trade is completed.“My position has not changed, and I believe moving on is the best path forward for me and my family,” the statement read. “I appreciate everything Winnipeg Jets fans have meant to me throughout my career and hope a resolution can be reached soon.”This is a developing story.
