Ahead of the launch of Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on August 31, 2026 (Monday), Markapuram District Collector M. Vijaya Sunitha has assured the displaced residents that the district administration is taking steps to ensure justice for every eligible person.Along with Joint Collector P. Srinivasulu, DRO Venkata Sivarami Reddy and district-level officials, she visited Gottipadiya and Akkachervu Thanda—villages facing a submergence threat due to the project—to inspect the situation on the ground.She enquired about the issues faced by the displaced residents and reviewed the status of compensation. She distributed land title deeds (pattas) to the villagers.The Collector urged the villagers to remain confident, stating that the government would provide support for their rehabilitation. She noted that all residents of the rehabilitation villages would receive compensation before the scheduled release of water.She informed that all basic amenities in the rehabilitation colonies were completed and the pattas are being distributed.Security Arrangements for CM visitIn preparation for the Chief Minister’s visit and public meeting at Gantavanipalli in Dornala mandal of Markapuram district for the release of water from Veligonda Project, SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, along with Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Markapuram MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy, and other officials, inspected the security arrangements and vehicle routes on Thursday.As part of the security review, he directed the officials from all departments to coordinate and take proactive precautionary measures to ensure no security lapses occur.He instructed them to thoroughly review the arrangements for the visit and take appropriate action.
